COOPER® Valves came into being in 1930, with a maverick spirit, a strong work ethic and a motto of Quality without Compromise. Over the years, we have earned our clients’ trust, as well as a reputation as a problem solver, innovator and technology leader.

In 1934, we were the first valve manufacturer to successfully pour 304 Stainless Steel. Since then we have developed the technologies to produce valves in a wide array of exotic metals that are notoriously difficult to pour and machine. We continue to refine and optimize our patterns, and to achieve impressive advances in product design and engineering, metallurgy and quality control testing. A wide spectrum of industries rely on us to meet their evolving needs and specifications with a full line of cast and forged gate, globe and check valves, and most recently, highly engineered severe service ball valves.

A quantum leap toward the technology of the future occurred in 2013. Cooper purchased Accuseal®, a manufacturer of the most advanced and optimally engineered severe service metal-seated ball valves that meet Class VI Shut-off standards.

The acquisition of Accuseal greatly expanded Cooper’s technological capabilities, with a vast array of internally developed and proprietary design engineering software, coating processes, and lapping processes. Innovation and problem solving for industries has been accelerated, thanks to an expanded and accomplished engineering staff.

Accuseal’s state-of-the-art HP-HVOF (high pressure-high velocity oxygen fuel) coatings meet the challenge by providing maximum protection for longer valve life.

Our proprietary HVOF coatings are matched to the ball-seat material, and are the most consistent and least porous available. State-of the-art technology applies the coating at the highest velocity for greatest density coverage, superior bond strength, and surface hardness. Thanks to on-going research, we can ensure the most reliable coating is always matched to particular severe service conditions.

Lapping

All metal seated ball valves rely on continuous, unbroken contact between the metal ball and the seat to create an isolating seal.

The problems with traditional cup-lapping methods are many: It laps only a sealing band, distorts roundness, compromises coating thickness, creates ridges around the “sweet spot”, and produces surface irregularities that cause higher torques.

In contrast, Omni-Lap 360°™ uses a proprietary, robotic system to mate-lap the entire ball and seat for optimal roundness, producing 100% ball to seat contact, regardless of positioning. The result is the tightest, most reliable seal available.
